The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council #151 will be hosting a Dia De Los Muertos Fall Fiesta on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Old County Courthouse on 722 21st Street.
DÃa de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a uniquely Mexican and Latin American festivity traditionally observed annually on November 1st and 2nd. DÃa de Muertos is a culmination of pre-Colombian heritage and Catholic influence honoring the souls of the dead in a lively, cheerful celebration (Mecca Houston 2024). This family-friendly event is a celebration of life and death and will feature traditional dishes, the creation of altars to remember the dead.
In conjunction with this event, Ball (aka Avenue H) and Winnie (akak Avenue G) between 20th and 21st Street, as well as 21st Street (aka Moody Ave) between Ball and Winnie will be closed from 8:00 AM until approximately 8:30 PM.
